What do I do if I catch an employee using a company credit card for personal use?

Some of our staff have company credit cards, especially the sales staff who travel a lot and entertain clients. We recently noticed some unapproved charges on 2 of our staffs' co. cred cards and can prove they are not business related. What is the best course of action to take?

So many people today have no morals and do not make good decisions. They shoplift for a scarf and risk a year in jail and a criminal record. Cashiers steal from Wallmart, K-Mart, CVS, and all the major chains. People use credit card that are stolen or borrowed or use company cards to get items that are not business expenses. If it was a small amount and they are good employees make them pay it back and forgive them. If it was really out of line and they were taking a lot of money for obvious personal items and can be replaced fire them after getting restitution. If it is thousand have them arrested.

Call my office for complete details. Does your company have a written credit card policy that is given to employees with cards or, have you told employees to check company policy that may not have been provided? If not, it's time to have a such a policy and to deliver copies to all employees who have cards.? That doesn't mean that you cannot enforce a policy that requires reimbursement of all expenses that are determined to be personal on an employee's card the key concept here is to give notice that the company does not allow personal expenses to be charged on the company cards.
