What are my rights in collective bargaining in terms of severance pay?
In Suffolk County, collective bargaining is seeking my termination under civil service law 75. I'm being accused of using a false sick note from an MD. I've already been suspended one month without pay. I feel I am discriminated against because of my age and years of employment. I have no other disciplinary actions against me for fourteen years and three months. My name surfaced on a list as using a sick day instead of a vacation day on a snow day (January 21, 2014) instead of a vacation day. My union failed to protect me from these charges. Termination seems harsh. I was told I must leave at the end of December, this year and that I must use up my accruals.
