Is it illegal to film police as they arrest somoene?

I was at the park yesterday when the police arrived and started to arrest a homeless man who had been hanging around. The man seemed harmless but was arguing with the police. It caught my attention and I started filming the whole thing on my phone. After they finally got the guy handcuffed one of the officers came up to me and asked me to please stop filming. I told him it's a public park so I can film whatever I want. He put his hand over my phone and twisted my wrist a little, then wrote me a ticket for interfering with an officer's duty and said next time I will be placed under arrest. Should I fight the ticket or call the police station and complain?
