Is it a crime if I don’t come forward with evidence in a murder?

Lets say someone knows something about a crime that happened. If they don't come forward and the police found out they knew can they be charged with anything? Like if someone you are close with confessed to you?

    You cannot aid a crime or help a person get away with a crime but you do not have to tell the police if a person confesses a crime to you. Giving him a place to live would be a crime.
