If you are facing felony rape charges in Superior Court, and intend to fight them, you would need far more than $300 per month. Bluntly, a major felony defense like this through trial would cost you $25,000 and up, paid largely in advance. Clearly you need to apply for the Public Defender.

Probably a minimum of $5,000 and possibly closer to $10,000 to start with additional fees. You would have to ask for a public defender.

Most criminal attorneys require a fee or retainer up front. Based on your income you should ask for the public defender.
