Can I sue someone at work for slander if they are saying I’m doing something I’m not doing?

A team leader at my job told another team member that I'm selling drugs. I know that is slander and a lot more. Do you think I will have a good chance to sue them? I brought it to my bosses attention. All they told me was they are looking into the situation but they can't tell me anything else. I won't know if he got in trouble for it or if they really doing something about it because they lie so much.
