A Brooklyn, New York man was arrested after his girlfriend’s 7-year-old son brought a gun to school. Sharnel Miller had given Andrea Clark’s 14-year-son an unloaded handgun for his protection. His younger brother took it to school.
Miller was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child. Clark was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment. Her 14-year old was charged with reckless endangerment. Police say they are unlikely to charge the 7-year old. He had found the .38 caliber handgun under his brother’s bed after Clark had told her elder son to get rid of it.
Police said Miller had given the teenager the gun, telling him “he will be going to high school shortly, therefore he should have a gun.” So much for protecting kids from crime.
