Hundreds of Texas Juvenile Prisoners to be Released

Texas has announced that it will release 226 juvenile inmates after a review found their criminal sentences had been improperly extended. A Texas commission, reviewing allegations of physical and sexual abuse in juvenile facilities, reviewed the cases of over a thousand juvenile inmates whose prison sentences had been extended The commission found that some extensions were unwarranted. Those juveniles found to have improper sentences will be released.

The juveniles will be released on parole as soon as guardians can pick them up or they can be transferred to halfway houses.
