New Device Helps Police Nab Scofflaws and Fugitives

Police in Cincinnati Ohio have a new device to help them catch parking ticket scofflaws and fugitives from the law. The new handheld device an scan at least 140 databases in just one second. If a suspect’s identity is found in one of the databases, a police officer would know he has found someone wanted by police or skipping out on paying his tickets.

An officer can aim the device at an driver’s license or any ID card to gather information. She can even take a photograph of someone’s face or a license plate. Any of this information can be used to search databases around the country for criminal activity.

A Cincinnati criminal defense attorney calls it “another closing of Big Brother.”
